Losing My Temper Over Stupid Politics

April 28, 2011 at 3:00 pm (The Serious Stuff) (, , , , , )

I’ve lost my temper this morning.  I’m short on sleep, I’m still recovering from bronchitis, and my dog is sick – the reason I’m short on sleep.

And then I go to a very local forum – filled with people I see on occasion, some on a regular basis, only to find that some people just cannot let go of this stupid presidential birth certificate bullshit.  And I unloaded.  And because it is valid, I’m sharing this unloading rant, because it’s likely relevant to some of your lives and forums as well.

So feel free to repost it, edit it, use relevant parts, because it’s time to move on to other things that a a whole asston more important.

With no further ado, my rant –

What the fuck is wrong with you people?  You are buying into a media sideshow, a godsbedamned freak show led by a chief freak, over shit that was proved up long before the man was even allowed to become a candidate, as per the standard process set up by this country long ago to make sure no ruling class folk from another country were brought in here to usurp our rights as a free country.

This birther bullshit has wasted so much time that could have been spent a whole asston of better things it staggering, and some of you just can’t let it go.  I’ve reposted humourous conspiracy theories and other stuff to try to make light of this, but honestly, this is no longer funny.  I’m sorry, but no paper work, no questioning of his life is ever going to make him a white man, and you can lie all you want and say you’d do this with any other president, but point of fact – you wouldn’t and you haven’t.

Instead, you’ve wasted hours of your personal time – and of ours – on this crap.  25 pages, really?  And to think I wasted time reading the first 5 pages. Then I got angry – really, truly angry.

If this kind of sad conspiracy bullshit is what it means to be an American, then never call me an American again, because I refuse to be lumped in with the paranoid and assholish.  And assholish is the right word, especially when you see Trump’s newest steaming pile of crap about how did Obama get into Harvard when white people didn’t.  Trump didn’t use those words, but I will, because that’s what he really said.

Overt racism is what this has become, and that sickens me.  What sickens me even more is those of you doing it and unwilling and unable to admit it.  At least be an adult and admit you don’t trust the president because he’s a black man, then I’d have respect for your opinion.  As it is, I have no respect for some of you, and at this point, I’d cross the street to avoid talking to you in public because you sicken me so much by your inability to act like a decent human being about this whole deal.  Have an opinion, yes, stick with your opinion, but admit it for what it really is; stop hiding behind some bullshit conspiracy theory that never had any basis in reality.

Look around your community – are there things you could do that would help your fellow man instead of wasting time researching and developing these dumbass theories? Most definitely – go do them.  Volunteer  at IMHS, volunteer time and/or food and goods to one of the local food banks, help get that Bailey food bank up and running, coach a sports team, make quilts for the local police, hell, just take a ride in the mountains and enjoy spring.  But stop making yourself look like a fool in such a public manner, for your own sake.

And the rest of you – stop engaging them in this conversation.  Its falling on deaf ears who are convinced that he’s some sort of alien overlord or is just inferior because of something they refuse to admit to doing.  Stop baiting them, it’s not longer worth the time of honest Americans and honest human beings to try to convince the delusional of the actual reality.

Time our country got back to serious matters – we’re involved in several wars, we have an astounding disparity of wealth in our country, we have our own homeless and starving right here in our own community.

But no – a stupid piece of paper is so much more important than reality.  Seriously, grow the fuck up and open your eyes to the real problems in this country. Stop being one of the problems of this country.

Such is my rant – and I stick by it.  Now I’m off to actually do things important to my life, my family, our income, and maybe even for society as a whole today.  No more wasting my time on sad conspiracies and village idiots.

The truth is out there (via Sarah, Proud and Tall)

After all the bullcrap of the past few days, this blog post by Sarah Proud and Tall tells it all. Enjoy the read – I did!

The truth is out there Goddammit. I post a righteous rant about the world thinking Americans are all insane and then half an hour later the entire United States goes stark raving birther-mad just to prove me correct. Anyway, it was the 5th of August 1961. Keith and I had been in Nairobi undermining the more moderate sections of the Kenyan independence movement because Jack Kennedy wanted to piss off the British. It didn’t take much work in those days – either to underm … Read More
